We’re proud to celebrate Phoenix Elaine, Branch Manager at Wanless Recycling Park, Oxley, who was awarded Highly Commended – second place in the Plant/Equipment Operator of the Year category at the 2026 WRIQ Industry Awards.
The recognition is particularly special given Phoenix’s journey with Wanless.
Phoenix returned to the business in 2022 as a machine operator, bringing hands-on experience in plant, materials and resource recovery. Her technical capability, leadership and approach to problem-solving saw her progress through site supervision before being appointed Branch Manager of Wanless Recycling Park, Oxley in July 2026.
Along the way, Phoenix has played an important role in achieving Green Star certification for the Oxley recycling yard, while building a capable team and maintaining a strong focus on safety, operational performance and better environmental outcomes.
Her Highly Commended result recognises not only what Phoenix has achieved, but the way she goes about it.
