Biosolids are a by-product of the sewage treatment process. When sewage sludge is treated to an acceptable standard, the resulting biosolids can be used for beneficial uses such as application to agricultural land, for landscaping and soil amendment after composting. Total biosolids production is about 300,000 tonnes per year of dry solids.

Biosolids are rich in essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and organic matter.

Over recent years the NSW Government has been re-evaluating how sewage should be treated and disposed of so that improvements to both environmental and public health can be assured.

The overriding concern has been to try to move away from the traditional and unsustainable disposal of sewage to waterways, and to recognise that sewage contains a number of natural qualities which can, when managed judiciously, be utilised as a resource.

Wanless offers integrated biosolids treatment and consultation through innovative systems and procedures. Our biosolid material is carefully treated, monitored and utilised in accordance with Australian regulatory requirements, ensuring that we meet your needs and deliver safety and quality while minimising environmental and community impacts.

We’re more than waste management

A staggering 9 million tonnes of plastic ends up in the world’s oceans each year, and land-based waste is the greatest polluter. This ocean debris affects about 700 marine species, some of which are now endangered.

To help turn the tide on plastic pollution, Wanless eco(logical) is investing in Australia’s oceans.
