Wanless has officially opened its new Greater Western Sydney headquarters on Robert Street, Smithfield. After more than a year of operating from temporary offices at Sydney Recycling Park at Kemps Creek and the Long Street Smithfield facility, the team finally has a permanent home, purpose-built for growth and efficiency.
The new branch brings together our administrative, operations, sales, and logistics teams under one roof. It includes dedicated workspaces, truck parking, workshops and wash bays, allowing the Wanless Sydney fleet and staff to work more cohesively and safely.
Positioned within the industrial belt of Western Sydney, the Robert Street site is ideally located to service Greater Sydney with less travel time and fewer truck hours. The improved logistics base will help us reduce emissions across our operations and provide faster, more reliable service to our customers.
Right next door, 4G Metals Smithfield is fully operational and open to the public. The 4G yard offers convenient access for scrap-metal recycling with a drive-through weighbridge, processing facilities, and friendly, efficient service for all metal types. Together, the two sites create a strong operational base that supports the broader Wanless network while offering the community a trusted place to recycle responsibly.
While the new Robert Street site now serves as the central hub of Wanless operations, our Long Street Smithfield facility remains a key part of our expanding network, operating as our Greater Western Sydney waste recovery and transfer station as well as a W Skips hub. With additional space now available, customers will benefit from enhanced access, faster turnaround times, and greater on-site efficiency when dropping off materials for processing. Robert St works seamlessly alongside our Botany facility, which supports Sydney’s eastern and southern regions – together strengthening our footprint and capacity to deliver smarter, more sustainable recycling solutions across the city.
The move to Robert Street marks an exciting new chapter for Wanless and reinforces our long-term commitment to efficient, sustainable operations across New South Wales. With 4G Metals next door, Smithfield is a strong operational base that supports resource recovery and efficient logistics across Sydney. By co-locating in one of the city’s busiest industrial corridors, both businesses can service customers faster, reduce time on the road and lower transport emissions – cutting our own carbon footprint while also helping customers achieve their sustainability and carbon-reduction goals.
