Wanless Expands into the Hunter

Wanless Waste Management is thrilled to announce its return to the Hunter region with the opening of its newest branch, located in Heatherbrae, Newcastle. Building on decades of business connection to the area, this expansion strengthens Wanless’s commitment to providing sustainable waste management and recycling solutions for businesses across the Hunter and Central Coast regions.

The Wanless story in the Hunter dates back to the early 1990s, when Dean Wanless founded Newcastle Metal Recycling. Since then, in the early 2000s, Wanless expanded with a successful commercial and industrial waste collection business in Newcastle, which operated for many years. For the past ten years, Wanless has continued its presence in the region with its national administration hub located in Newcastle. Additionally, more than a decade ago, the company purchased a large parcel of land at Hexham which Wanless has remediated, showcasing its dedication to environmental restoration in the area.

Dean Wanless, Wanless CEO said, “Newcastle and the surrounding regions have always been a significant part of the Wanless journey. With Newcastle experiencing rapid growth and major infrastructure projects driving development, there’s a clear demand for sustainable recycling and waste solutions. We’re proud to return our waste collection operations to the region that shaped so much of our history, and bring our expertise back to help local industry achieve their circular economy goals for the betterment of the wider community.”

The Newcastle branch is now fully operational with a fleet of trucks, and ready to support construction, manufacturing, retail and hospitality sectors in the Hunter. Wanless offers tailored, innovative recycling solutions that prioritise recovery over landfill, helping businesses reduce costs while achieving their sustainability goals.
